Digital Property
Also known as: Web property, Digital asset
A website, domain, or connected set of web assets treated as an owned asset with measurable value rather than as a marketing channel.
A digital property is any website, domain, or set of connected web assets owned and operated as an asset. The word choice is deliberate: a property has a value that can rise or fall independently of what it earned last month, it can be improved, and it can be sold.
Treating a site as a property changes what gets measured. A marketing channel is measured by what it delivered this month. A property is measured by what it would still deliver if you stopped working on it, which is a much harder question and the one that determines what it is worth.
Not every website is usefully a property. A site that exists purely to support a business, with no independent audience, no search surface of its own, and no transferable value, is infrastructure. That is a fine thing to be. It just should not be valued as though it were an asset with its own market.
