Entity Recognition
Also known as: Entity understanding
Whether a system understands a property as a distinct thing with a subject, rather than as an unclassified collection of pages.
Entity recognition is the step before authority. A system has to know what a property is before it can treat it as a source. Declared structure is how a property asks to be classified: schema markup stating what each page is, defined terms stating what its vocabulary means, catalog endpoints stating what collections exist, relationships stating how the pieces connect.
The practical test is whether the property's name returns the property, and whether the subjects associated with that name are the ones it chose.
Declared structure removes ambiguity. It does not create reputation. A perfectly marked-up property with nothing worth citing is legible and ignored, which is a better problem than being illegible, but it is still a problem.
