Dataset Asset

Also known as: Structured content asset, Reference asset

Content published as a consistent structure rather than as a document, so it can be extended, queried, and cited without being rewritten.

A dataset asset is a collection with consistent fields across every entry: a glossary of defined terms, a directory of entities, a specification table, a comparison set. The distinguishing feature is that adding an entry is cheap and improves the whole collection, while a document has to be rewritten every time something changes.

These are the parts of a property that can appreciate, because their marginal cost declines as they grow and their usefulness increases.

A dataset asset that goes stale becomes a liability faster than an article does, because people trusted it. And a collection padded with placeholder entries reads as filler from the outside, which drags down the entries that are real. Completeness is a quality measure, not a count.
