Time to First Fetch
A direct read on how closely a property is being watched. It shortens as a property establishes itself and lengthens when interest fades.
- Measures
- Elapsed time between a URL first being published and its first classified crawler request, per URL and as a distribution.
- Data Source
- Raw server request logs against publication timestamps from the content records.
- Indicates
- Crawl priority. A property fetched within hours is being treated differently from one fetched in a fortnight.
- What Moves It
- Publishing cadence, sitemap updates, internal links from frequently crawled pages, and overall property standing.
- Does Not Prove
- Indexing speed. Fetched and indexed are different events, and the gap between them can be long.
- Status
- Measured, and one of the more interesting things to watch on a brand new domain.
This is the signal I expect to be most informative during this property's first ninety days, because it starts at an unknown and has nowhere to hide. Whatever it does gets published.
