Query to Page Fit
A structural health check disguised as a search metric. Poor fit looks like a conversion problem and is usually a structure problem.
- Measures
- For each significant query, whether the associated landing page is the intended one.
- Data Source
- Search Console query-to-page association data, compared against the property's own intent for each page.
- Indicates
- How clearly the property has distinguished its own topics from each other.
- What Moves It
- Clearer internal structure, distinct page purposes, and removing near-duplicate coverage that makes a search engine choose between similar candidates.
- Does Not Prove
- That the wrong page performs worse. Occasionally the engine is right and your intent was wrong.
- Status
- Measured once query-page data exists.
The most valuable version of this check is on the commercial queries specifically. A pricing query landing on a definition page is a conversion loss that no conversion optimization will recover.
