Repeat Retrieval Rate
A machine coming back to the same section repeatedly is at least consistent with treating it as a reference. It is the closest observable proxy for being used as a source.
- Measures
- Repeat request rate per section by crawlers whose fingerprints are assigned to retrieval rather than bulk collection.
- Data Source
- Classified raw server request logs.
- Indicates
- That a section is being returned to rather than collected once. Consistent with reference use.
- What Moves It
- Reference-shaped content: definitions, structured collections, specification data. Content that answers a recurring question rather than a momentary one.
- Does Not Prove
- Citation, use in an answer, or value delivered to anyone. Purpose is a configured grouping of vendor fingerprints, not per-request proof of intent.
- Status
- Measured, with the caveat above stated every time it is used.
This is the signal most likely to be overstated by somebody selling AI visibility services, so the limit is worth repeating: a repeat fetch is a repeat fetch. Everything past that is inference.
